I hope you all had a wonderful day today! (Well, as I type this it is officially the twenty-sixth, but whatever. I still haven’t gone to bed!) We had a full day! Last night we went to the Christmas vigil Mass, and we’ve been on the go since! When we got home from Mass, we ate a light dinner and enjoyed homemade Christmas cookies. Around 8:00am the next morning, my entire family was awake. We finished wrapping a couple Christmas gifts, blessed our Christmas tree and our nativity scenes, opened gifts around the tree, and ate a typical American brunch: an egg bake, hash browns, bagel rounds, bacon, and orange juice. After brunch, our neighbors from down the street stopped by bearing Christmas cookies(thank you!) and bringing their new puppy(adorable!). We spent the rest of the day (until about 4:15pm) cooking a feast for dinner consisting of ham, chicken, potatoes, rice and pigeon peas, salads, and breads. We had some of our extended family over for dinner. I wish I had more photos of our dinner spread!
After dinner, as we were playing Family and Guesstures and just enjoyed each other’s company, some friends of ours arrived on our front porch singing Christmas carols. It was such a special surprise! I think that our families singing What Child is This, Joy to the World, and Good King Wenceslous together was one of my favorite memories!
Anyways, if you made it through those long paragraphs, good job and thank you! Here are some photos from today.
