Fashion has captivated me for as long as I can remember. It’s art, and an empowering form of communication. Although I have enjoyed thrifting as long as I can remember, and have been dabbling in sewing almost as long, it was only recently that I discovered the importance of sustainable and ethical fashion. Since, I have been educating myself on these topics and striving to engage in a lifestyle that supports my beliefs.
Why mindful fashion?
The fashion industry is the second most polluting industry in the world. Fashion is a 3 trillion dollar industry. Globally, it employs 7 billion individuals. Such a massive impact means that as consumers we have tremendous responsibility, but unfortunately, the majority of individuals are blissfully unaware of this duty. I want to play a small part in making sustainable fashion mainstream.
Above all, fashion and personal style conveys a distinct message to the people around us. My goal is to dress in way that witnesses to the fact that I am a beloved daughter of a God, a God who passionately and personally loves each us, no matter our circumstance. He sent his only son, Jesus, to die on a Cross to open the gates of heaven so that every one of us has the chance to spend eternal life with Him. Before He sacrificed his life, He performed the ultimate sacrifice by leaving his disciples the gift of Himself in a very real an unique way, through the Eucharist which is His very body, blood, soul, and divinity. He left His disciples the Catholic Church, which is the Bride of Christ.
